Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency nerve ablation is a minimally invasive ultrasound guided procedure that uses high frequency radio waves to cause controlled heat damage to the target tissue. It is usually performed at a temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. At this temperature the target tissue is denervated and no longer able to transmit pain signals. Radiofrequency nerve ablation is a recognised and highly successful treatment for various foot conditions including Morton’s neuroma and heel pain. It can also be used for osteoarthritis. This is known as joint denervation.
