Verruca Treatment
Curettage
Curettage is a minor surgical procedure involving full excision of the verruca followed by chemical cauterisation to kill any remaining infected tissue. The procedure is painless since it is performed under local anaesthetic. Following the procedure a large protective dressing is applied and you can weightbear immediately. Recovery is fast and most patients can perform their usual daily activities one week post-procedure.
Needling
Needling involves poking the verruca with a needle multiple times. This pushes the verruca tissue deeper into the skin which helps your body detect the virus responsible which stimulates your body’s immune response to kill off the virus leading to a resolution in your verruca(s). This minor procedure is painless since it is performed under local anaesthetic. Following the procedure, a small dressing is placed over the area treated and you can weightbear immediately. Recovery is fast and most patients can perform their usual daily activities 2 days post-procedure. Most patients require 1-2 treatment sessions to achieve full resolution.
High Strength Salicylic Acid
We provide a combination of high strength salicylic acid combined with a prescription only cream which work together to kill the verruca via local damage to the infected skin cells and stimulating an immune response. The salicylic acid is applied in clinic once every 2 weeks and the prescribed cream is supplied to you for daily home use between appointments.
